Highlights
- Creating the Rinn voice is a top priority - current plan is to launch it at the Oireachtas.
- Joey submitting thesis today! Performance of his LLM better than UCC in almost all categories.
- New website coming along well - Oskar has created some great artwork for the front page.
- Cancelled fibín van as can't get it near the main Oireachtas venue.
- 3 days of presentations and a stand.
- Still looking for a place to rent for people to stay, but prices are high. Might have to reduce numbers that go - even go up and down by train.
- Plan to launch new Rinn voice at the Oireachtas if possible (Fianait). Asked Andy and Ciadhla to work together to get it done.
- Also plan to organise a NEARTÚ meeting at the Oireachtas.
- Suggested Muireann work with Amanda on the new voice as a top priority.
- Sibeal voice is least acceptable as it is more full of pauses on s2s. Not a top priority though.
- Want a systematic way of checking the quality of new voices - John mentioned this is a project Amanda has been requesting for months. It is on the MOL wishlist
- Mentioned Ciadhla as a person who could potentially train a new streaming recognition model.
- German professor looking to make another mobile lab.
- Going to put report on recordings from Rinn up on MOL.
- Might use Fotheidil to do transcribing for Rinn recordings.
- Almost finished Thesis.
- Results beat UCC in almost all cases, except for open ended questions. Aim to submit to EMNLP.
- Aims to get a working demo working by next week, which he will send on.
- Getting recordings from Rinn up on to Transtool for Muireann.
- Suggested Muirean use Fotheidil .
- Uploaded all Mayo recordings to Transtool. Ronán will be working on transtool. Not a huge number of recordings, so wants to adapt from another dialect model.
- Agreed with Liam on need to get the user agreement for Fotheiidil passed by the DPO.
- Mentioned that Amanda had been pushing for systematic testing of new voices months ago, and there already exists a project on the MOL wishlist. It needs mapower assigned. Ailbhe said Aifric would work on it. John said it needs a technical person as well to build it.
- Can provide link to Muireann (And others) to sign in to Fotheidil .
- Wants to pass the user agreement through the DPO.
- Did a load testing this week with John and Oscar. Works for multiple users.
- Started training a new model based on Tamás' sugestions.
- Looks at other packages for streaming - mentioned 'We net'. Possibly a project for another student.
Tamás
- Says Google/AWS are giving out free GPU hours to researchers. Nvidia giving away GPU hours and physical GPUs to researchers as well.
- Final project idea - lip syncing character for Irish.
- Noticed pauses in Síbeal's speech. Asked Andy how much text is safe to input into the synthesis. Andy unsure.
- Gave example of synthetic voices with audible breath on pauses.
- Gave demonstration of MAO updates with new images.
- Gave example of new website, which is coming along very well.
- Didn't get to speak.
