Backups
2 applications are used for backups:
- Snapshot Replication
- Hyper Backup
Snapshot Replication
Snapshots are the first line of defense to protect against data loss. They allow you to freeze a share folder at a point in time. If a file is accidentally deleted, or if a ransomware attack occurs, it is possible to recover the folder.
- All folders are scheduled for snapshots to be taken daily at 2am.
- Snapshots are set to be immutable and undeletable for 7 days to protect against ransomware.
Hyper Backups
If the storage pool gets corrupted, snapshots will be no use for recovering data, as they exist on the same pool as the original folders. To guard against this, we need to backup the data in a second location.
We Use Hyper Backup to backup our folders
