Dia duit Neasa! Liomsa Gavin, tá brón orm ach tá gaeilge beag agam! I built a team a few weeks ago that took part in the National AI Challenge, Ireland's largest hackathon. We built a voicebot that speaks as gaeilge, I'll attach a demo at the end. We manage to reach the finals in Galway this week and have gotten interest from a few bodies such as Foras na Gaeilge and Údaras na Gaeltachta, as well as some TDs. I myself am a secondary school teacher, I'm using AI to build a cheaper alternative to grinds for secondary school students, so we've also gotten interest from schools and universities. Currently, we are using OpenAI and Elevenlabs, but we love the work that you guys are doing and we'd love to explore the possibility of a potential partnership. I have met with Cormac from Foras and I met some lovely ladies from Trinity at Higher Options this week, they sent me in your direction. I look forward to hearing from you. Warm regards agus GRMMA

To whom it may concern, I am learnt Irish and I find abair.ie to be an incredibly useful resource. Typically I will practice vocabulary using digital flashcards, copying and pasting into abair.ie when I'm not sure if the pronunciation. I was wondering if there is an API I could use rather than copy and pasting? It would be the same amount of traffic as the web front end. Furthermore, I notice that some of the links are broken (returning a 404) and there are some UI misrepresentations with the login state/user profile. I am a developer and would be very happy to assist if the code is available on GitHub? In any case, a fantastic resource and go raibh míle maith agat! All the best, Joshua Wise

Hello Abair Team,
My name is Rob, an Irish expat currently working with a UK Software Tech company called Bigpicture Software. I’m reaching out because I’ve been brushing up on my Irish lately and have a strong interest in building an app that helps speakers practise correct pronunciation aloud using speech-recognition and synthesis.
Because your work with Abair has been fantastic and central to speech technology in Irish, I would love to request API access or some developer access (even on a trial or evaluation basis). My idea is that the app would allow learners like me to speak Irish aloud and receive feedback hear the correct pronunciation, ideally using the quality of voices tools you’ve developed.
A few details about the project:
I work for Bigpicture Software, and we do a lot of generative AI speech & language-based projects. Although admittedly a personal passion project, I lean on the expertise within the company and coworkers to bring it to fruition.
This app would start as a prototype: low volume, just to test feasibility (for personal use and among learners).
If successful, I would be happy to share the completed app widely, and I think many others I know would love to use it. I hope it can help with spreading the language.
If possible, I’d appreciate:
Access to a test development API key or credentials, or guidance on how to apply.
Any developer documentation you have: endpoints, request response schemas, audio formats, limitations.
Information about cost licensing usage terms in case this goes beyond prototype.
Thank you very much for your time and for all the work you’ve done with Abair. I believe tools like this can make a big difference, and I’d like to help in whatever way I can.
See below company link BigPictureSoft
Best regards,
Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
Rob

Dia dhuit,
My name is Paddy Murray, and I am a software engineer developing an Irish learning app to help students prepare for the Leaving Certificate oral exam. The app provides an interactive way for learners to practice oral Irish with AI-powered dialogue, and authentic text-to-speech voices are a crucial part of making the experience effective.
I have experimented with commercial TTS providers, but their Irish voices do not match the authenticity and dialectal accuracy of the ABAIR models. Because ABAIR’s work is trusted in education and represents Irish faithfully, I would love to explore the possibility of using your TTS voices within this learning app.
In particular, for the app’s conversational setting, low-latency or streaming TTS output would be ideal, as it would allow students to experience a more natural, back-and-forth oral exam simulation.
Could you please advise if there is a way to gain access (via API, SDK, or licensing) to ABAIR’s Irish text-to-speech models, ideally with streaming support, for integration into this project? I would be very happy to discuss collaboration, licensing, or pilot use in an educational context.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh for your time and for the outstanding work ABAIR is doing to promote the Irish language.
Kind Regards,
Paddy Murray
